Monster Mowing

About Monster Mowing

Mist stands over Lake Istokpoga at first light, and out in Lorida the pastures and palmetto edges hold it until the sun burns through. Monster Mowing is already out by then, gates opened, dew flying off the deck on the first pass. Big open lots, long drives, cabbage palms and fence lines: mowing, edging, trimming, and clearing the cuttings so nothing looks half-finished. Sandhill cranes work the far side of a lot as if inspecting it. By mid-morning the grass is even, the borders are clean, and the place reads the way ranch country ought to — plain, wide and squared away.
