June in east Manatee County keeps a schedule of its own: clear morning, towering afternoon, then rain shoved inland off the Gulf until the St. Augustine grass drinks its fill. Two days later the sidewalk line has disappeared under it again, and that arithmetic is the whole idea behind Always Be Cutting. Mowing, edging, trimming and blow-off come around on a rhythm the rainy season can't outrun. Lines come off the turf ruled and even, walk edges get cut back to the concrete, and the driveway leaves empty of clippings. Pulling away from a lot that looked overgrown an hour earlier is a small, honest pleasure, and it repeats every week.
