Bear Hollow Sod Inc

About Bear Hollow Sod Inc

Sod starts as a field, and a field on this ridge starts as sand that drains almost as fast as the rain falls. Bear Hollow Sod Inc grows and lays turf around Lake Placid, cutting pallets in the cool part of a spring morning and setting them down green-side-up before the day turns hot. Laying sod is a craft of seams: rows staggered, edges pressed together, the whole thing watered in until the lines disappear and the yard reads as one piece of ground. A month later you cannot tell where anything began, which is what the work is for. They mow and maintain what they install, too, so the green that goes down stays green.
