About Southernscapes Turf Management

Turf is a subject of its own down here — bahia out in the open, centipede in the sandy patches, St. Augustine wherever there is water and attention — and each one asks for a different height and a different rhythm. Southernscapes Turf Management works that ground around Lake City: mowing at the height the grass actually wants, edging along walks and drives, cutting the borders back, and clearing the debris that will smother a lawn if it sits. Late winter is the turning point, when brown bahia begins pushing green up from the crown and the mowing year quietly starts over. Get the first cuts right and the rest of the calendar runs easier. By May the difference between a managed lawn and a merely mowed one is visible from the street.
