Salty Roots

About Salty Roots

Stand near the Jupiter Inlet jetty on an east wind and you can taste the spray a hundred yards inland; the lawns nearby taste it too, all season long. Salty Roots works those coastal blocks, where St. Augustine has to hold its color through salt, sun and sandy soil that lets go of water fast. Mowing, edging the walks and drive, trimming around the sea grape and the fence posts, then clearing the clippings before the wind does it for them. There is a real reward in a beachside yard that looks green and squared off when everything around it is bleached and windblown. Close to the water, kept work shows twice as much.
