Yard Barber

About Yard Barber

A barber's work is all in the line, and so is this one. Yard Barber goes after the places most people skip in Interlachen — the strip where the grass runs over the sidewalk, the ragged skirt around a mailbox post, the corner of the drive the mower never quite reaches. Mowing first, then edging, then trimming, then everything blown back off the concrete until the shape of the yard is plain again. In the blue half-hour after sundown, when cool air comes up off the lakes and over the sandhills, a freshly edged lawn reads like a haircut: you cannot say what changed, only that it looks intended. Interlachen and the neighboring towns are the chair.
