Mowing Fools

About Mowing Fools

First light in Interlachen is wet — dew heavy enough to soak a boot, mockingbirds already at it, the sand roads still cool underfoot. Mowing Fools take that hour, before the heat sits down on Putnam County for the day. Mowing, edging, string trimming, and the clippings cleared off the drive and the sidewalk, so the concrete ends up as tidy as the grass. It is plain work with a plain reward: pull up to a shaggy lot at seven and leave it squared away by eight. They run Interlachen and out to Keystone Heights and Hawthorne.
