Major Roots

About Major Roots

There are still weathered tobacco barns standing in the fields around Havana, left from when this ground grew shade wrapper under acres of cheesecloth. Major Roots works the same soil in a smaller way — mowing, edging, trimming, and keeping the beds and shrub lines in order on properties around town. Midsummer, the day starts early and ends when the heat says so, and a yard cut in the morning cool looks better for the rest of it. The name says what the job really is: everything visible up top depends on what is holding underneath, and steady care is what keeps a lawn thick instead of thin.
