In January the grass around Green Cove Springs slows down and the yards go quiet — dry gold in the low sun, the evenings arriving cool and early. That is when V&k lawns and more catches up on everything the growing season pushed aside: cutting back overgrowth, shaping hedges off the windows, pulling leaf litter out of the beds and off the driveway. Come March it all wakes at once and the mowing begins again, week on week, edges kept crisp along the sidewalks from town out to Fleming Island. Trimming, blowing the walks down, hauling away what was cut. A yard on a regular route never gets away from anybody, and that is the whole idea.
