Grass On The Grow

About Grass On The Grow

By two o'clock in July a thunderhead stacks up over the marsh west of town and everyone on the island watches it decide. Grass On The Grow works around that clock — early cuts, edging and trimming finished ahead of the rain, cleanup done so a downpour finds nothing loose to float into the street. Summer is the season this place shows off, St. Augustine running thick and green wherever the light lands, and it takes steady mowing to keep all that growth looking like a lawn instead of a field. The payoff is the yard right after the storm passes: cut even, edges sharp, everything glossed and standing up. Fernandina Beach and the neighboring Nassau County towns are the territory.
