February on Big Sand Lake is the good secret of this town — dry air, cool mornings, azaleas opening while half the country is shoveling. Doug's Landscape & Irrigation spends those weeks on the maintenance that never announces itself: mowing at the right height, edging drives and walks, trimming along fences, keeping beds clear of whatever blows into them. When the rains return in June the lawns take off, and the weekly cut is the only thing standing between a yard and a hayfield.
