Cloud Lawn & Home

About Cloud Lawn & Home

By two in the afternoon in July the anvil clouds are already standing offshore, and a Clearwater crew learns to read them like a clock. Work starts early and moves fast so it finishes before the first curtain of rain crosses the Intracoastal — mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, all of it inside that window. What the storms leave is its own job the next day: fronds down, twigs scattered through the beds, a lawn that grew two inches overnight. Cleanups, hedge trimming and bed work fill the days in between. Lawn and home belong together on this coast, because here the weather gets to both of them at once.
