Ron's Lawn Care

About Ron's Lawn Care

By two o'clock on an August afternoon the thunderheads have already stacked up white over the flatwoods west of Callahan, and everybody who works outside is reading the sky. Ron's Lawn Care plans the day around that — the mowing done early, the edging and trimmer work finished while the pavement is still dry, the walks cleared before the first fat drops hit. Saw palmetto and slash pine crowd the property lines out this way, so a lot of the craft is in the boundaries: where the lawn stops and the woods begin, kept as a clean, deliberate line. After the storm passes the yard steams and greens all at once, which is Callahan's whole personality in a single hour. Come the next week, the cut holds and the edges are still crisp.
