Grassroots Groundworks

About Grassroots Groundworks

Alachua sits on sand — pale, fast-draining, forgiving of nothing — and every good lawn here is really a story about roots reaching down through it for water. Grassroots Groundworks starts from that premise, mowing at a height that lets the turf feed itself and edging without cutting the plant off at the knees. The weekly work is mowing, edging and trimming; the deeper work is beds cleared and mulched so the soil under them stays cool and damp through a June afternoon. Storm debris and yard waste go out with the crew, not into a pile by the fence. Grass that holds its color in the worst heat of the year is not luck; it is what happens when the ground is treated as the point.
