About township Lawns

A township is a name a surveyor leaves behind, a square ruled onto open ground, and township Lawns keeps something of that same habit of straight lines. Work starts in the cool part of the morning, when the grass still holds the night's damp and the mower leaves a darker path behind it. Fencerows, mailbox posts, the awkward corner by the shed — the trimmer gets to all of them, because a yard is only finished at its edges. By the time the heat leans in around noon, the clippings are blown off the drive and the place looks settled, like someone meant it. It is ordinary work, done in order, and the result is a yard that reads clean all the way from the road.
