About Lawn Cuts, LLC

On the blocks off Union Street a front lawn can be twelve feet deep, which means every inch of it is on display to anyone walking down to the bakery. Lawn Cuts, LLC takes that as the assignment: mowing on a steady weekly rhythm, trimming tight to the iron railings and the stoops, and edging the sidewalk seam so the grass stops exactly where the concrete begins. In July, when the heat pools between the rows of Little Italy and the blades throw a green smell out into the street, the cut has to be high enough to hold and even enough to look intentional. Seasonal cleanups clear whatever the old sycamores decide to drop. Small yards are not less work — they are work with nowhere to hide, and that is the pleasure of them.
