Shoreview Lawn and Tree

About Shoreview Lawn and Tree

East of Smyrna the ground gives up on hills entirely and runs out flat toward the marsh, where the light off Bombay Hook comes in wide and unhurried — the kind of light that shows every ragged edge on a lawn. Shoreview Lawn and Tree works those mornings, mower down while fog is still lying in the ditches along Duck Creek, blades sharp, lines running true to the road. Salt air and sandy Kent County ground make their own demands, and a yard out here stays honest only through mowing, trimming and edging kept to a rhythm rather than a whim. By the time the tide has turned and the geese have shifted fields, the strips are cut clean, the walk edges are crisp, and the clippings are hauled off. It is a plain kind of satisfaction, and it holds all the way out to the mailbox.
