About Manlive Lawn

Across the bridge in Blades the river is about the width of two backyards, and in March the light comes off it thin and bright before the trees leaf out. Manlive Lawn opens the season there and around Seaford — the first cut of the year, the winter's litter carried off, the edges recut where frost shoved them out of line. Growth is slow at first and then suddenly it isn't, and by May the mowing runs from one end of the week to the other. The job rewards a steady hand more than a fast one: even height, clean borders, nothing scalped on the high spots. Every autumn it closes the same way, leaves hauled away and the ground left in order.
