Tingle's Lawn Service

About Tingle's Lawn Service

Come August the light out along Route 24 goes heavy and white, and the corn stands perfectly still in it. Tingle's Lawn Service works the Millsboro afternoons in that heat, moving in and out of the shade the loblolly pines throw across a side yard. The ground here is sand under a thin skin of topsoil — it drinks and forgets — so a lawn wants mowing at a height that shades its own roots and a feeding schedule that respects the sun. Trimming around the mailbox post, the fence line, the base of every tree is where a yard either looks finished or doesn't. The clippings go with them, the lines stay straight, and the place holds its shape right through to the next visit.
