Grass Guys

About Grass Guys

Midsummer noon in Middletown, the ball fields empty, the heat standing still over the outfield grass — and mowers going somewhere on every block. Grass Guys work straight through that part of the year, when lawns grow hard, the humidity refuses to break and the only cure is showing up anyway. Mow, trim the fence lines, edge the drive, clear the walk: the list is short and the sweat is real. Cut high in August and the turf carries itself through a dry spell; cut it wrong and the brown shows up within days, so the deck height gets set for the week rather than out of habit. Cold water in the truck, a row of green yards behind you, and it is on to the next one.
