Glow

About Glow

There is an hour in June, maybe seven in the evening, when the sun comes in sideways across a Middletown yard and every blade of grass lights up along one side. Glow works toward that hour — mowing, edging and trimming lawns so the low light has something worth landing on. Stripes only show when the cut is even and the pattern is honest, and a crisp edge along a walk throws a shadow you can see from the street. Around here the yards are open and the blocks run long, so one lawn done well pulls the whole row up with it. Loading up as the light goes orange over the rooftops, the finished grass practically hums.
