Six in the morning in Greenwood, and the grain elevator throws a long shadow across the tracks while the whole town smells like cut hay and diesel. Early cutting is a mercy in July here — the dew has just lifted, the air has not turned heavy yet, and the grass takes a clean, even edge. Trimming, edging and a good blow-off finish each stop, so the walk and the drive look as sharp as the turf. In a town this size the work is right out in the open, and it ought to look like it.
