About Connecticut Land and Tree Services

In Windsor the Farmington gives itself up to the Connecticut, and every April the meadows below Palisado Green take on water and hand it back, leaving the ground soft and dark for the rest of the year. Connecticut Land and Tree Services works that river ground and the neighborhoods out toward Northwest Park, where tobacco sheds still stand at the edges of the fields. Wet soil and big trees make their own trouble: a cottonwood loosening in the flood plain, a silver maple over a driveway carrying more limb than trunk to hold it. Removal there is measured — pieces let down on a line, the lawn left without ruts. Trimming and pruning carry the rest of the year with clearance off rooflines and dead wood out of the shade trees, and when a line of summer storms crosses the valley the crew is out clearing whatever it left behind.
