A nor'easter reaches Weston sideways, up Weston Road from the south, and by nine at night Route 57 is a tunnel of white. Rizzo Masonry & Landscaping runs snow through it — plowing driveways, clearing walks and steps by hand, and salting and sanding once the surface is down to pavement. Weston drives are long and often steep, and the difference between passable and stuck is a couple of passes at the right time. Coming back through at four in the morning to open a drive a second time is simply part of the storm. Morning shows what it was for: black asphalt, banks squared off at the edges, a car that goes where it is pointed.
