Along the West River, where West Haven meets New Haven, the willows go yellow green before anything else in town, and that is the signal. From there it runs weekly, with the trimming and edging that make a lawn read sharp and mulch worked in around the shrubs. Overseeding fills whatever shade and foot traffic wore down over the summer.
