Out at the Oyster River, where West Haven runs into Milford, the marsh grass goes tawny in September while the lawns above it are still growing. Pepe's Lawn Care is on those yards on a weekly turn, cutting, edging the walkways, tightening up the borders, keeping mulch beds turned and neat. Autumn is the season for overseeding here, when the salt air cools and new grass has time to root before the ground hardens. Then come the leaves, raked and carried away, and then April, and the cleanup that starts everything over. Small yards, kept sharp, on the same day each week.
