About Serene Scapes

Snow falling at night near Beachland Park makes West Hartford about as quiet as a town can get — the pool closed and buried, the ballfield a flat blank, the streetlights each wearing a soft cone of white. Serene Scapes goes out into that hush and leaves something behind: a driveway opened end to end, a path cut to the front door, salt down where the morning will try to turn slush into glass. There is a calm to the work at that hour, one truck and one street at a time, nobody rushing and nothing missed. Come daylight the storm looks pretty from the window and harmless from the doorstep, which is exactly the intended effect. Quiet in, clear out.
