Warren is mostly hill, hayfield and dirt road, with Lake Waramaug lying at the bottom edge of it holding the morning fog longer than anywhere else. County Lawn Services keeps the lawns tucked into that landscape — the ones cut out of pasture, ringed by stone wall, sloping harder than they look from the road. Mowing on a schedule, trimming close along the walls and posts, edging where there is edge to cut, cleanups spring and fall. Up here a kept lawn reads against all that rough green like a made bed in a very large room. That contrast is worth doing well, and it is why the passes get laid out straight.
