North Colony Road never really sleeps, and in a February storm that matters. Before the plazas and lots along Route 5 open their doors there is plowing to do — lanes cut, aisles opened, walkways cleared, salt down at the entrances where boots come through. Come May the same attention shifts to grass: mowing on schedule, trimming, edging, and cleanups in spring and fall for homes and businesses across Wallingford. Two very different trades, joined by one habit — being there before anybody has to ask. The measure of both is simple: an open lot at seven on a January morning, an even cut on a Friday in July.
