The Quinnipiac slides quietly along the west edge of Wallingford while the town climbs away from it toward Center Street and the long ridge beyond. The valley grows grass generously in June and then tests it in August, so the job is really about steadiness — cutting on schedule, holding the right height, seeding thin spots once the nights cool. Every visit ends the same way, the trimmer run along the walk and the drive blown clear so nothing is left but green and pavement. On a clear evening the ridge turns copper and the fresh lines run straight toward it.
