The Tankerhoosen runs cold and small through Vernon, and the yards along it keep two calendars: one green, one white. AC Landscape and Construction, LLC keeps both. Summer means mowing the river-flat lots where the grass comes in fast and dark, a clean border cut along every walk, clippings gone before the afternoon heat sets in. Winter means the blade dropping at three in the morning and a path opened from the door out to the road. It is a good rhythm to live inside — cut, clear, cut again — and it leaves a property looking cared for in either color.
