Out toward the Winchester line the wind has room, and by mid-November it has stripped the ridges bare in about a week. Mike's Tree Service & Landscaping works both sides of that turn — fall cleanups and last mowings before it, plowing and salting after it, then mowing, trimming and mulch once the ground finally lets go in April. Torrington's storms keep their own schedule, usually overnight, and the trucks go out to open driveways, lots and walkways while the town is still asleep. A cleared drive at first light with the banks pushed back square is a thing worth being proud of. The territory runs Torrington, Winsted, Goshen and the back roads between them.
