About Fred's Plowing LLC

Winter finds Torrington early. Up here in the Litchfield Hills, the first real storm can arrive while the lowlands are still raking leaves, and it comes down hard on the slopes where the two branches of the Naugatuck meet. The marquee of the Warner Theatre glows through the snowfall downtown, the old brass-mill streets go quiet, and the hillside driveways begin to fill. Fred's Plowing LLC heads out into it, plowing drives that climb at angles a flatlander wouldn't believe and pushing the snow wide so the banks don't close in by February. There is a hardy, northern pride in the work — a long white curl peeling off the blade, a steep driveway opened from garage to street, and a hill town that keeps moving no matter how soon the cold arrives.
