The Still River threads the west side of Torrington, and the greenway that follows it turns green weeks before the hilltops do. E.A.V Landscaping starts its season down in that low ground, mowing the first flush of April growth while the ridges are still brown. Edges are cut along walks and drives; string trimming reaches the corners a mower will never see. Mulch goes in around the foundation plantings, and the beds are weeded on a schedule rather than in a panic. Late in the year the leaves come off in passes until the lawn lies bare and even again.
