September is Stratford's most generous month — the water at Frash Pond goes glassy in the mornings, the heat lets go, and lawns that struggled through August start putting on real growth again. Shannon Landscape & Garden Center spends it mowing, because that late push is exactly when a regular cut pays a yard back the most. Edging gives the beds and the walkways their outline; trimming takes care of everything a mower deck can't reach. Cleanups clear the falling leaves before they can pack down on the turf and undo the whole autumn. Watching a lawn thicken in September, going into fall stronger than it came out of summer, is a decent measure of a season done right.
