Dig anywhere along Ridgefield's west side and you meet the ridge itself — ledge, glacial stone, the boulders old farmers stacked because there was nowhere else to put them. Exteriorscapes reads that ground for a living: general excavation and sitework, grading and pitch, in-ground drainage, utility trenching for gas and electric and water, a new lawn shaped so the runoff goes where it should. In stone they build walkways and landings, patios and steps, Belgian block and fireplaces, pavers and flagstone, retaining walls in boulder or interlocking block. Their tree side clears lots, prunes and cables, grinds stumps and feeds roots deep in the soil, while the planting side draws whole properties — screening, privacy, a large tree set where it will matter in thirty years. In March, when the frost lets go and the back roads turn to soup, the same machinery is what plows a driveway clear.
