Wauregan's brick mill still sets the tone of that village — straight courses, square corners, everything intentional — and a lawn nearby ought to answer it. The work is lawn care with that same eye: mowing to an even height, trimming along walls and walks, edging a line you could follow with your finger, and the twice-yearly clearings that keep a property from going shaggy. Autumn is the honest test, when the maples along the river road drop everything in about ten days and a yard can vanish under it. Bringing it back down to green is deeply satisfying, if unglamorous. Plainfield was built by people who made things carefully; keeping its yards that way feels like the same errand.
