On Boston Post Road in Orange, where Route 1 runs its long commercial line toward West Haven, Knight's Inc opens early into a shop that smells like two-stroke and cut grass. This is the machine side of outdoor work: new and pre-owned equipment out on the floor, and a service center that takes in zero-turn and stand-on mowers, chainsaws, snow blowers, trimmers and pressure washers for repairs major and minor. OEM and aftermarket parts and accessories fill the racks behind the counter, so a mower that quit on a Saturday can be running again by the next one. If hauling it in isn't practical, they will pick it up, do the work, and deliver it back to the garage it came from.
