Snow that comes off Long Island Sound lands wet and dense on Norwalk, heavy under a shovel and heavier by the hour. Cirika Snow Plowing meets it on the clock this city actually runs on, opening driveways and lots before the first commuters reach the Merritt and cutting walks through so nobody has to guess where the path used to be. North of the parkway the streets are steep enough that a drive left half-done turns to ice by evening, so the work goes wide and all the way down to the surface. The finished shape of it is plain: black pavement, piles pushed back off the corners, a house able to get on with its morning.
