In Newtown the woods are never far from the door — oak and hemlock crowding the stone walls, leaf litter banked along every property line from Sandy Hook up to Hawleyville, and morning dew sitting in the tall grass long after the flagpole on Main Street has caught the sun. That damp shaded margin where a mowed yard gives way to the trees is exactly where Tick Ranger works, treating the whole property with biorational control products under the Tick Ranger Control Program for season-long flea and tick control. It is an integrated approach rather than a single spray: reading the habitat, finding the harborage, and knocking populations down where they actually live. The reward is a plain and generous one — kids barefoot across the yard in June, a dog let out at dusk near the Pootatuck without the nightly ritual of checking every ear and paw.
