In February the gardens off West Meetinghouse Road stand stripped to their bones, and that is precisely when their shape can be read and corrected. Designing Eden LLC works the bare season on purpose: dormant pruning that improves health, encourages flowering and manages size and shape, chipping and storm damage removal while the ground is frozen hard enough to carry a machine, and deer spraying carried from late summer through winter so no browse line ever sets in. December through February is also drawing season — landscape design worked out at the table, ready to go into the ground the week the beds thaw. The company keeps its range deliberately narrow: landscape design, landscape installation and garden maintenance, with the fine gardening they call garden detailing, and nothing pretending to be everything.
