West Haven Street Sweeping

About West Haven Street Sweeping

In Milford the storm arrives off the Sound first as sleet ticking against the harbor pilings, and by the time it has crossed the Wepawaug it has thickened into the heavy, wet snow the shoreline knows so well. West Haven Street Sweeping works those hours, clearing snow from the drives and walks of the neighborhoods between the Green and the beach roads. There is real satisfaction in a plow line laid straight along a driveway's edge, in a walkway taken down to bare pavement before the first car door opens. Milford wakes early — the Post Road, the streets running out toward Walnut and Gulf, the blocks stitched behind them — and it wakes expecting to get where it is going. Clearing the way is dark-hours work, and the reward is a town that simply goes about its day.
