Abell's Snow Removal

About Abell's Snow Removal

Wind coming off the flats above Mansfield Hollow has nothing to slow it down, so a storm here does not so much fall as get driven sideways into every driveway in town. Abell's Snow Removal works against that: plowing drives open, pushing the piles back far enough that the next storm still has somewhere to go, cutting walks and steps by hand, and salting the shaded stretches that never see enough sun to melt. Country drives out this way run long and dark, and knowing where the gravel edge hides under six inches is most of the job. There is a plain satisfaction in a rural road where every house is already dug out at daybreak. Storm nights are long, and that is simply what the season asks.
