About Madison Earth Care

The tide comes up the East River twice a day, and the low silver light it throws back across the marsh grass is the light Madison gardens actually live in. Madison Earth Care designs into that light — custom landscape design, planting and installations, and stonework that turns a plain back slope into a patio, a walkway, a firepit worth sitting at in October. Much of shoreline soil is stubborn about water, so drainage and grading come first here, quietly, before anything pretty gets planted on top of it. Then the long middle season of it: yard cleanup, mulching, fine gardening, lawn care, the weekly attention that keeps a bed reading as intentional rather than merely green. When snow closes the shore down, the crew keeps the same properties open. Guilford to Westbrook, the pleasure is watching a design settle in and start to look like it grew there.
