About All Area Landscaping LLC

Along the Mill River, where Hamden's water slows behind the Whitney dam and the light comes off it flat and silver, All Area Landscaping LLC works the ground on both sides of a property line. Their crews take down hazardous trees with crane and grapple, grind the stumps flat, then come back to build what stands in the gap — bluestone and brick walkways, stamped concrete, outdoor fireplaces and kitchens, ponds and water gardens set with locally grown plants and stone from local suppliers. When a lawn has given up entirely, they Harley-rake it clean and start over by hand seeding, hydroseeding, drill and slit seeding, or laying field-size sod with machinery. Underneath all of that runs the unglamorous work this clay-and-ledge soil demands: catch basins and drywells, foundations, grading, retaining walls, septic and utility lines, trenching, bulldozer work. There is a real pleasure in the finished edge of a bed in August — mulched dark, blown clean, the mower lines still showing across the grass.
