About Portillo Landscaping LLC

Turkey Hill Road climbs away from the river through the kind of Haddam neighborhood where every yard keeps its own slope and its own share of afternoon sun. Portillo Landscaping LLC opens the year there with spring cleaning — clutter, branches and matted leaf hauled off, thin patches re-seeded so the grass comes back even. Where a lawn has gone brown and weedy they cut it out and lay sod, and the change lands the same afternoon: green, edge to edge. Planting and gardening follow plant by plant, then mulching and edging, with metal edging bent into gentle curves to hold gravel and mulch and keep the turf from wandering into the beds. Pruning is done with the species in mind, older growth taken so a shrub keeps a loose, natural shape at the size the spot allows. Their masonry gives all of it somewhere to sit — brick, stone and mortar patios laid for the long evenings.
