Down along the Unadilla River the valley opens toward Mount Upton with hayfields on both banks, and July gets hot enough here that mowing starts early and shade is something you earn. Big Raf's Landscaping cuts those long yards, trims the fence lines and field edges where the brush leans in, and edges the drives so the gravel stays where somebody put it. Big lawns and small ones get the same pattern — cut, trim, edge, leave nothing behind but stripes. Cleanups bookend the year: sticks and matted leaves in spring, leaves and spent stalks in fall, with mulch worked in between. On a still evening the smell of cut grass carries the whole length of the valley.
