Their ground runs from Byram east through Riverside and Old Greenwich, hydrangea country, where stone walls hold the lawn up against the road and a mowing line wants to be straight. Summer means weekly cutting and edging, bed work, overseeding, plant health care, hedges and small trees pruned back, stone patios and walkways set into the slope. Autumn turns it all to leaves and debris and the long sweep before the cold, with power washing to take the season off the stone. Then winter: plows out on the drives, storm response when a limb comes down, and kiln-dried firewood delivered and stacked in the rack beside the door.
