Winter in this corner of Connecticut arrives as a logistics problem: a foot of snow across a parking lot is the difference between a business opening at seven and not opening at all. Guarco Construction runs out of Granby straight into that — commercial snow plowing and snow removal across lots, driveways and roadways, then down to the sidewalks, pathways and entryways where people actually put their feet. The rest of the year the same ground gets built rather than cleared: sub-grade cut to line, gravel filled and fine-graded, compacted under vibratory rollers, then asphalt laid for driveways, parking lots and residential roads. Doing both halves means knowing where a plow blade will catch and where meltwater will run before either one happens. From Granby the trucks reach out across the greater Hartford and Springfield communities, and by the time those storefronts unlock, the pavement is already black.
