About Minnechaug Tree and Landscape Inc
Minnechaug Mountain rises east of the town center, and the company that took its name works the trees on those slopes and in the yards below them. Winter is the season for the biggest removals — frozen soil means a lawn survives what a bucket truck asks of it, and a 4x4 truck can reach ground the snow has otherwise closed off. A tree standing over a house or power line comes down in sections; one with room to fall gets felled clean. The rest of the year is pruning toward a structurally sound crown, cabling a V-shaped crotch with lag hooks and a spliced thimble rather than losing the limb, and grinding a stump six to eight inches below grade so topsoil and seed can close the scar. They clear land for yard expansion, plant new trees, and read a sick tree carefully before treating it. On a bright cold morning the sawdust smells like the inside of the wood, and the yard opens up to more sky than it had the day before.
